Clinical Research Centre Hospital Tawau (CRC HTAW) have been established since May 2017 and have been officiated on 24 October 2018 by Dr. Abd Kahar Bin Abd Asis (Deputy State Health Director) on behalf of Datuk Dr. Christina Rundi (State Health Director). The establishment of Clinical Research Unit is one of the initiatives to promote research activity in the hospital staff and to improve the service through application of Evidence Based Practice. Hospital Tawau strive to provide excellence service to the patients thus to achieve that, investment into research played an important role. The establishment of clinical research unit aim to enhance clinical research activity by nurturing conducive environment and provide support to the researchers in Ministry of Health especially in the region of Tawau. Hospital Tawau also is the lead hospital for Cluster Hospital which consisted of Hospital Lahad Datu, Hospital Semporna and Hospital Kunak thus the establishment of Clinical Research Centre is very strategic in terms of geographically location for East Coast Sabah.

Dr. Elisa is an emergency physician and the current head of Clinical Research Centre of Hospital Tawau. She is also a fellow in WINFOCUS Fellowship in Emergency &Critical Care Ultrasound. Dr. Elisa has vast experience not only in her emergency medicine field as an instructor of Basic Life Support (BLS), Trauma Life Support (TLSM), and prehospital care (PHC) but she is also active in clinical research especially in the area of point of care ultrasound.

Incidence and Characteristics of Acute Kidney Injury among Hospitalized Dengue Patients

Acute kidney injury in dengue has been associated with increased length of hospital stay and mortality in dengue patients. Yet it is one of the least studied complications of dengue. This retrospective observational study aims to determine the incidence of acute kidney injury among all adult dengue patients hospitalized in Hospital Pulau Pinang.

Thoracic aortic disease has a complicated and poorly understood pathophysiology. Aneurysms, dissections, traumatic injuries, intramural hematomas, and penetrating herosclerotic ulcers are among these diseases. All patients had TEVAR procedures performed at HPP’s Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery within(2019–2023)receive efficient management of their disease pathology, a retrospective study is being planned.
